Nikola Corporation has reported the sale of 200 hydrogen fuel cell-powered trucks since the start of the year, with total sales reaching 235 units since the vehicle’s market debut in Q4 2023. The company recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales in Q3 2024, moving 88 of its Class 8 trucks (heavy-duty vehicles primarily used for long-haul freight).

In January, Nikola confirmed the delivery of 35 out of 42 hydrogen-powered trucks produced in 2023. The company’s CEO, Steve Girsky, commented on the recent performance, noting that the 88-unit quarter included sales to dealers and the rollout of Nikola’s first U.S.-based HYLA modular refueling station at Tom’s Truck Center in California, which can refuel up to 30 trucks per day.

“Despite broader market challenges, Nikola remains committed to advancing solutions for a zero-emission world,” Girsky said.

The company has indicated strong demand for its hydrogen trucks, particularly in California. Between October 2023 and February 2024, 225 voucher requests were submitted in the state for hydrogen fuel cell trucks, all specifying Nikola vehicles. Additionally, Girsky suggested in February that the company expects to deliver three times as many hydrogen-powered trucks as battery-electric models this year.
