MorGen Mobility has initiated the construction of its green hydrogen refuelling station at the Cleantech Innovation Park in Hallstadt, Germany. This development, supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, marks a significant step in enhancing the region’s sustainable transport infrastructure. The strategic location near the A70 and A73 motorways ensures efficient logistics and accessibility for clean technology businesses.
The Hallstadt hydrogen refuelling station is set to open in spring 2025. By sourcing hydrogen from regional production facilities, the station will support local economies and contribute to reducing transportation emissions.
Strategic Location and Benefits
The Cleantech Innovation Park was chosen for its proximity to major transport routes, enhancing logistics for companies adopting green energy solutions. Peter Keller, Managing Director of the park, highlighted the importance of collaboration between businesses, public authorities, and academia in driving sustainable mobility solutions. The new station will offer renewable hydrogen at 350 and 700 bar pressure levels, catering to light and heavy-duty vehicles, buses, and passenger cars.
Government and Industry Support
Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Hubert Aiwanger, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the advantages of hydrogen for long-distance freight and passenger transportation. The project underscores Bavaria’s commitment to expanding hydrogen infrastructure across the state. The initiative aligns with Bavaria’s broader strategy to harness hydrogen’s potential in transitioning to sustainable mobility.
Local and Regional Impact
Johann Kalb, District Administrator for Bamberg, emphasized the role of green hydrogen in achieving energy transition goals in transportation. The project is expected to provide a competitive edge to the region by reducing emissions and strengthening local value chains.
Thomas Söder, the Mayor of Hallstadt, mentioned: “Hallstadt is making a bold statement for the future use of hydrogen. We are proud to be part of this project, which positions the region as a key player in the growing green hydrogen sector. We look forward to the opening in a few months.”
Future Plans and Expansion
Werner Leitner, Head of Supply Chain and Operations at MorGen Mobility, noted that this station represents a crucial milestone in developing sustainable mobility infrastructure in Germany. MorGen Mobility plans to expand its network with three additional hydrogen refuelling stations by the end of 2025. These stations will be strategically located in industrial parks and commercial areas, supporting both public and long-distance transport.
